THE GENEVA CENTRE ORGANIZES A NUMBER OF CONFERENCES, SYMPOSIA, SIDE-EVENTS, ROUND TABLES, CULTURAL EVENTS AND WORKSHOPS.

Our events address the most pressing human rights issues, including those examined by the UN human rights structures and mechanisms. Our events bring together a variety of stakeholders such as the United Nations (UN), intergovernmental organizations, governments, civil society, academia, independent human rights actors, the private sector and the public to discuss human rights topics of global importance.

To mark International Women’s Day, celebrated worldwide on 8 March, and to officially launch its latest publications on women and gender equality in the Arab world and beyond, entitled Women’s Rights in the Arab Region: Between Myth and Reality and Veiling /Unveiling: The Headscarf in Christianity, Judaism and Islam, issued in February 2019, the Geneva Centre organized a debate and book presentation.

EDUCATION FOR PEACE IN A MULTI-RELIGIOUS WORLD

The panel debate was held on the occasion of the 2018 World Human Rights Day at the United Nations Office in Geneva. The focus of the conference was to discuss how Education for Peace can engage different stakeholders to counter violent extremist narratives, build peaceful and inclusive societies as well as to promote universally shared values upheld in diverse faiths and creeds.

On 25 June 2018, a World Conference entitled “Religions, Creeds and Value-Systems: Joining Forces to Enhance Equal Citizenship Rights” was held, by the Geneva Centre, at the United Nations Office at Geneva, under the Patronage of His Royal Highness Prince El Hassan bin Talal of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

The Geneva Centre for Human Rights Advancement and Global Dialogue and the European Public Law Organization (EPLO) – in collaboration with the Permanent Mission of the United Arab Emirates to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva – organized a panel debate on 20 March 2018 on the theme of “Improving access to justice for workers: the case of UAE”.
