THE GENEVA CENTRE GIVES A CENTRAL PLACE TO CHILDREN’S RIGHTS, IN WHICH EDUCATION PLAYS A CENTRAL ROLE. OUR EVENTS AIM AT RAISING AWARENESS ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF SAFEGUARDING AND PROMOTING CHILDREN’S RIGHTS THROUGH VARIOUS ASPECTS AND GOOD PRACTICES.

What are children’s rights? What role can education play in empowering children and the future generations? In our events, we aim at answering these key questions, by gathering experts and specialists in the domain of children’s rights as well as young inspirational leaders.

Invited speakers coming from different types of fields and organizations will discuss and elaborate on the current impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the right to education, and the future consequences it may have. Speakers will identify the main risks and problems and will also present solutions for the future, to safeguard and promote the right to education following the pandemic.

The panel debate was held on the occasion of the 2018 World Human Rights Day at the United Nations Office in Geneva. The focus of the conference was to discuss how Education for Peace can engage different stakeholders to counter violent extremist narratives, build peaceful and inclusive societies as well as to promote universally shared values upheld in diverse faiths and creeds.

The Geneva Centre will organized, in cooperation with the UNESCO Liaison Office in Geneva, the International Bureau of Education (IBE) – UNESCO and the Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Bahrain, a panel discussion aimed at reviewing the role of education in enhancing equality of citizenship rights and diversity within communities affected by inter-communal civil strife.
