THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE REMEMBRANCE OF THE VICTIMS OF SLAVERY AND THE TRANSATLANTIC SLAVE TRADE: AN OPPORTUNITY TO FIGHT RACISM AND PREJUDICE

The Geneva Centre for Human Rights Advancement and Global Dialogue and the UNESCO Liaison office in Geneva, will organise a panel discussion on the occasion of the international day of the remembrance of the victims of slavery and the transatlantic slave trade. The panel is entitled: “The International Day of the Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade: an opportunity to fight racism and prejudice”.

The discussion aims at analyzing the underlying causes for the persistence of racial discrimination, xenophobia and intolerance phenomena, through addressing their various contemporary manifestations. The panelists will share their views and vision on world founded on peace, dialogue, tolerance and respect of cultural diversity. A substantive report will be produced through close cooperation between GCHRAGD and UNESCO on the achievements and challenges of the fight against racism and prejudice.
