Geneva Centre’s Human Rights Awareness Week 2024 Opens in the UAE:
“Empowering Change, Inspiring Action”
Dubai, UAE, 9 December 2024 – The Geneva Centre for Human Rights Advancement and Global Dialogue proudly launched Human Rights Awareness Week 2024, a vibrant series of events held from 9 to 12 December in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, UAE, under the theme “Empowering Change, Inspiring Action.”
The highly anticipated week began with a panel discussion entitled “Human Rights Education: Curriculum and Beyond,” organized in collaboration with the Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government (MBRSG) in Dubai.
The opening panel explored innovative approaches to integrating human rights into educational frameworks. Among the participants were faculty and students from the Graduate School of Management of St. Petersburg University, whose active engagement enriched the discussions and dialogue.
The panel featured Dr. Immanuel Azaad Moonesar of MBRSG, who emphasized the pivotal role of policymakers in safeguarding human rights. He described policymakers as vital protectors capable of driving meaningful change through informed and responsible decision-making. Dr. Umesh Palwankar, the Geneva Centre’s Executive Director, highlighted the essential role of education in fostering human rights awareness. Drawing on the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, he underscored the importance of embedding human rights education into school curricula worldwide.
The joint panel marked a significant milestone in the Geneva Centre’s collaboration with MBRSG, further strengthening shared efforts to promote human rights education and awareness.
As Human Rights Awareness Week 2024 unfolds, it promises to serve as a platform for impactful dialogue and strategic partnerships to advance the global human rights agenda.
