22 March 2019, GENEVA - A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Geneva Centre for Human Rights Advancement and Global Dialogue – an international think tank holding special consultative status with the United Nations – and the European Centre for Peace and Development (ECPD) – UN University for Peace
The agreement was signed on 22 March by the Geneva Centre’s Executive Director Ambassador Idriss Jazairy and ECPD – UN University for Peace’s Geneva representative Dr Arthur Dahl who also serves as a Member and President of the International Environment Forum.
The signature ceremony was held at the premises of the Geneva Centre.
The Memorandum of Understanding lays the foundation for a collaborative partnership between both Centres in the holding of joint panel debates at the United Nations Office in Geneva on issues related to global governance, alternative ways to Enlightenment, inequality and the long-term efficiency of UN human rights mechanisms.
The agreement also commits the parties to arrange and organize joint training programmes in relation to the promotion of human rights, peace and sustainable development in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region as well as in Europe.
The partnership between the Geneva Centre and ECPD – UN University for Peace marks a step forward in the development of both Centres’ ambitions to promote a value-driven human rights system as well as cooperative relations between peoples and societies in the Global North and in the Global South.
