A national of Finland, Reetta joined the Geneva Centre in January 2022. As a Project and Information Officer, she assists with the organization, coordination, and implementation of the Centre’s activities. She also focuses on conducting program-related research and the preparation of publications.
Prior to joining the Geneva Centre, Reetta worked as a Research intern at the United Nations Development Programme, and subsequently at the Embassy of Finland in Iran, where she monitored and reported on the political, economic and human rights situation of the country. She then worked in marketing and sales in Sweden, before completing the Red Cross Red Crescent IMPACT Training and the EU Aid Volunteers Training Programme for international aid workers. Through the Finnish Red Cross Reetta was deployed to Kenya for a 10-month mission, where she worked on enhancing volunteer engagement and supporting programmatic work. Most recently, Reetta worked as a Project Coordinator at Arigatou International Geneva within the framework of child’s right to education.
Reetta has been actively involded in volunteer work both with the Finnish and Spanish Red Cross, among others. Additionally, she is a contributing writer in one of the leading Finnish webzines on international security and politics, The Ulkopolitist. During her professional career, Reetta has lived and worked in Finland, Turkey, Iran, Sweden, Kenya, and Switzerland. She holds a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Development Studies from the University of Lapland.
In additon to her native Finnish, Reetta is fluent in English, Spanish, and Swedish, and is currently learning French.
