A national of France, Mr. Florian Fiquet joined the Geneva Centre in January 2020. As a Project and Information Officer, he assists with the organization, coordination and implementation of the activities of the Centre. He also focuses on conducting program-related research and preparation of publications.
Prior to joining the Geneva Centre, Florian worked as an intern at the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), within the Human Rights Council Branch, where he acquired an in-depth knowledge of the human rights mechanisms at the UN. Subsequently, Florian moved to Amman, where he worked for a Jordanian NGO, the Amman Center for Human Rights Studies (ACHRS). As a Project Officer, he conducted research on human rights issues in the MENA region, prepared the projects of the Center and represented the organization abroad. Among others, he participated in the 40th and the 41st sessions of the Human Rights Council in 2019. He next joined Geneva for Human Rights, a Swiss NGO, where he received training in human rights and attended and reported on human rights meetings at the UN in Geneva, including the Human Rights Council, the Universal Periodic Review and Treaty Body Committees.
In the course of his studies and professional experiences, Florian lived in France, Turkey, Switzerland, Australia and Jordan. He holds a Master’s degree in Middle Eastern studies from the University of Geneva and a Bachelor’s in Politics from the University of Montpellier.
Florian is fluent in French and English and is currently learning Arabic.
