A national of Italy, Catia joined the Geneva Centre in March 2023, as Project and Information Officer. In this capacity, she assists with the organization, coordination and implementation of the Centre’s activities. She conducts research related to programs, prepares publications and follows and reports on the sessions of the Human Rights Council.

Prior to joining the Geneva Centre, Catia started her career as a research intern at the International Criminal Court, The Hague. In this post, she monitored and reported on the political, economic and human rights situation in the countries concerned. She also worked at the Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative, India, where she monitored Commonwealth Countries’ performance during the UN sessions of the Human Rights Council and Universal Periodic Reviews. Subsequently, she worked as Legal Research Officer at the Centre for African Justice, Peace and Human Rights, Geneva, where she provided legal research and analysis in relation to Gender-Based Sexual Violence in conflict and post-conflict situations.

Most recently, she worked as a Fellow at the European Union Delegation to the UN in New York. She developed EU human rights positions through research and recommendations, supporting human rights activities for the European External Actions Services, Brussels. In parallel, she closely followed the activities of the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly. 

During her professional career, Catia has lived and worked in the Netherlands, India, the US and Switzerland. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Bologna, Italy; and Master’s in Human Rights and Democratization and in Peace Studies, respectively in Venice and Pisa.

Catia speaks Italian, English, Spanish. She is currently learning French.
