The Geneva Centre is glad to share its Newsletter no. 15 illustrating the rich spectrum of  activities carried out by the Centre from January to July 2025.

The Newsletter no.15 offers a spotlight on one side event jointly organized by the Geneva Centre and OHCHR’s Faith4Rights Initiative dedicated to countering hate speech at the intersection of religion and gender. Furthermore, this Newsletter announces the holding of a major joint conference in November 2025 jointly with Prof. Surya Deva, Special Rapporteur on the right to development, which will focus on climate inequality, human rights and sustainable development.

Turning to UN human rights mechanisms, the Newsletter presents the brand-new UNHRC and UPR Reporting Initiative which aims at preserving the institutional legacy of the Human Rights Council and better responding to the evolving needs expressed by its beneficiaries session after session.

With regard to research and publications, the Geneva Centre produced a short opinion piece on the Gaza’s freedom flotilla. The Centre further participated in the ‘Applied Research Projects’ initiative promoted by the Geneva Graduate Institute to offer to talented master students a practice-oriented, immersive research experience in contemporary human rights challenges. As one of the essential pillars of the Geneva Centre, the 2025 Applied Research Project was dedicated to Women’s Economic Empowerment in the MENA Region.

The 2025 edition of the Scientific Café explores the pivotal role played by education in the promotion of climate protection and environmental rights. The interviews feature seasoned guest speakers ranging from UN high-level experts to first-class professors and researchers. Discover through the power of images the human rights significance of international commemorative days relevant to the Geneva Centre’s mandate.
