HUMAN RIGHTS NEWS AND VIEWS – NEWSLETTER NO. 13 – MAY 2024

2024, June 13th|NEWSLETTERS, PUBLICATIONS|

The Geneva Centre is proud to present its brand-new Newsletter featuring – with a cutting-edge design and a reader-friendly format – the main activities carried out by the Centre from January to May 2024.

The Newsletter no.13 offers a spotlight on two events organized by the Geneva Centre dedicated respectively to countering religious hatred while upholding fundamental rights and to the contribution of the right to health to peace processes. Furthermore, this Newsletter announces the imminent publication of a comprehensive research paper on the Israel-Gaza war from a human rights perspective. This Paper intends to fill a vacuum by providing the very first concise but comprehensive mapping of the multifaceted human rights implications of the still ongoing armed conflict.

Under its flagship HRC Reporting Initiative, the Geneva Centre monitored and reported on the 55th regular session of the UN Human Rights Council and two UPR sessions held in January 2024 and in May 2024. Furthermore, the Geneva Centre replied to a UNHRC Special Rapporteur’s call for contributions with a submission on how climate change may impact the realization of the equal enjoyment of the right to education by every girl.

In 2024, the Scientific Café features a brand-new theme and welcomes on its digital stage brand-new special guests ranging from UN high-level experts to seasoned researchers and civil society voices, so as to offer enriching Human Rights News and Views!
