Alia Farès, a national of the United Arab Emirates, joined the Geneva Centre in September 2020 as a Training Specialist. She currently leads the Centre's programmes and research related to the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

In her current role, she leads the planning and coordination of projects, partnerships, training and research activities focused on the Middle East and North Africa. As part of the Geneva Centre's educational efforts, she facilitates practical learning opportunities through visits to the UN Human Rights Council and Geneva-based institutions.

She contributes to the Centre's broader work by supporting programme implementation and developing partnerships with academic institutions and think tanks in the region.

Before joining the Geneva Centre, Alia was Head of the Training and Education Section at Emirates National School in Abu Dhabi. She oversaw training programmes, staff recruitment, and institutional coordination with academic and governing bodies.

She holds a Master's degree in Leadership in Education from Abu Dhabi University, a Professional Diploma in Teaching, and a Bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature from UAE University.

Alia is fluent in Arabic and English.
