Diplomacy’s Role in Advancing Human Rights Education: Geneva Centre Concludes Human Rights Awareness Week with Joint Panel at Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy 

Abu Dhabi, UAE, 12 December – The Geneva Centre’s Human Rights Awareness Week 2024 concluded with a joint panel event titled “Educating for Change: The Role of Diplomacy in Human Rights Education”, organized in collaboration with the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA). 

The joint panel brought together distinguished speakers, including Dr. Nafees Ahmad, Associate Professor at AGDA; Ms. Leena Al-Belooshi, Human Rights Expert; and Dr. Umesh Palwankar, Executive Director of the Geneva Centre.  

They emphasized the critical role of human rights education in shaping diplomatic strategies and fostering global relationships. Panelists discussed the importance of addressing human behavior and human rights at global, community, and individual levels when formulating diplomatic actions. 

Dr. Palwankar highlighted the interplay between diplomacy and education, underscoring its significance in translating policies and norms into actionable outcomes. The panel also explored innovative approaches, such as leveraging artificial intelligence, engaging in digital diplomacy, and empowering youth to promote human rights education worldwide. 

This successful panel exemplifies the Geneva Centre’s commitment to fostering dialogue and collaboration in human rights education, paving the way for impactful initiatives in the years to come.
