Foreword by the Executive Director, Dr. Fabrice Cregut
The Geneva Centre has the privilege of presenting its Annual Report for 2025, a testament to another year filled with impactful and wide-ranging initiatives, appreciated by participants and stakeholders alike.
This year, the Centre organized four high-level panel events on pressing human rights issues. These included a panel on Countering Hate Speech at the Intersection of Religion and Gender; an International Conference on Climate and Inequality, Human Rights and Sustainable Development; a joint panel event on Addressing Women’s and Girls’ Right to Health in Humanitarian and Refugee Contexts: Overcoming Barriers to Ensure Data-Driven Responses; and on AI, Humanitarian Assistance and Human Rights: From Principles to Practice.
The Scientific Café initiative fosters dialogue with experts and practitioners to promote universal understanding of complex and current human rights issues. The theme this year was “The Role of Education in the Promotion of Climate Protection and Environmental Rights”. A series of engaging interviews on this theme were published on our website and shared across social media platforms.
The Geneva Centre held the fifth edition of the Human Rights Recognition Awards (HRRA) in Geneva this year, recognising individual leadership addressing human rights challenges arising from digital technologies. The ceremony opened with remarks by Dr. Fabrice Crégut, Executive Director of the Geneva Centre, who underlined the importance of recognising concrete and tangible action in the field of human rights, particularly in digital contexts.
The activities presented in this Annual Report—from policy dialogue and research to Human Rights Council reporting, public events, and awareness-raising initiatives—reflect this ambition. They also reaffirm our conviction that dialogue, when rooted in rigor, inclusivity, and mutual respect, remains a powerful tool to advance human rights, even in complex and divided contexts.
The Geneva Centre extends its deepest gratitude for your continued interest and support.
We look forward to another year of collaboration and wish you a fulfilling and prosperous New Year in your commendable efforts to promote and protect human rights.
