Prior to 2013, Dr Alshamsi held positions of high responsibility. Among others, he was a delegate of the UAE to the Vienna Convention on Corruption 2002-2003, and to the Arab International Conference on Combatting Corruption, Riyadh 2003. He participated in several conferences and symposiums in the UAE and abroad, dealing with the Administrative and Legal domains as well as Total Quality Management. He was honoured with the Sheikh Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Scientific Distinction.
Dr Alshamsi’s expertise and areas of interest include good governance, combatting corruption, public sector management and improving the Civil Service. He is the author of several studies and articles in these and related fields.
In December 2020, on the occasion of International Human Rights Day, Dr Alshamsi was awarded the distinction of “Global Ambassador for Human Rights and Peace”, the prestigious International Human Rights Award of the All India Council of Human Rights. The Award represents high recognition of his exemplary and tireless efforts to promote human rights worldwide.
Dr Alshamsi holds a Ph.D in Law from the University of Sheffield, UK. He speaks Arabic and English.
