The Executive Director of the Geneva Centre: Emir Abd el Qader is a source of inspiration for inter-religious tolerance

February 15 2017, OXFORD – The Executive Director of the Geneva Centre for Human Rights Advancement and Global Dialogue (“Geneva Centre”), Mr. Idriss Jazairy, praised the ideas and teachings of the Emir Abd el Qader el Jazairy that can be used as a source of inspiration to address contemporary issues related to international human rights law and humanitarian law.

The Geneva Centre holds panel discussion on the Right to Development

The Geneva Centre for Human Rights Advancement and Global Dialogue, in  cooperation with the Permanent Mission of Azerbaijan to the UN and other International Organizations in Switzerland, organized a panel discussion entitled “The Right to Development, 30 years later: achievements, challenges and the way forward”, which took pla ce at the Palais des Nations in Geneva on 5 December 2016. The discussion was an opportunity to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration on the Right to Development, as well as the 2016 International Human Rights Day.

The Chairman of the Geneva Centre’s Board of Management, H. E. Dr. Hanif Al Qassim, and H. E. Mr. Vaqif Sadiqov, Ambassador and Permanent Representati ve of Azerbaijan to the UN and other international organizations in Switzerland delivered inaugural addresses.

Ambassador Jazairy participates in the OIC-IPHRC’s seminar on the Right to Development

On 12th and 13th October, the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation held, in Abu Dhabi, a seminar on the Right to Development in order to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the UN Declaration on Right to Development.

The seminar, organized in collaboration with the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation as well as with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, aimed at calling for renewed reflection and joint action by all stakeholders, both at the national and international levels, to ensure that all individuals are able to participate in, contribute to and benefit from the fruits of the right to development.

Muslims in Europe: The Road to Social Harmony – A successful event organized by the Geneva Centre

The panel discussion entitled “Muslims in Europe: The Road to Social Harmony”, which took place at Palais des Nations in Geneva, was organized by the Geneva Centre for Human Rights Advancement and Global Dialogue as a side-event to the 33rd session of the UN Human Rights Council.  The partners of the Geneva Centre in the organization of this event were the Permanent Mission of Algeria to the UN and other International Organizations in Switzerland, and the Independent Permanent Commission on Human Rights of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. The discussion was an opportunity to present a study mandated by the Geneva Centre to the renowned Swiss-Algerian intellectual Dr. Zidane Meriboute, bearing the same name as the event.

In the framework of the 33rd Regular Session of the UN Human Rights Council

In view of the increasing tension affecting the Islamic community in Western Europe, the Geneva Centre for Human Rights Advancement and Global Dialogue, has commissioned Dr. Zidane Meriboute, a renowned Swiss-Algerian intellectual, to write a study entitled “Muslims in Europe: The road to social harmony”. This study, published by the Geneva Centre in September 2016, has been revised by H.E. Mr. Idriss Jazairy, Executive Director of the Geneva Centre, and includes a preface by H.E. Dr. Hanif Al Qassim, Chairman of the Board of Management of the Geneva Centre.

An Arab Intellectual and Diplomat to Head the Geneva Centre: H. E. Idriss Jazairy appointed Executive Director

H. E. Idriss Jazairy was appointed  Executive Director of the Geneva Centre on Human Rights Advancement and Global Dialogue. The Board of Management of the Centre welcomed him and wished him every success in his new responsibilities.

Idriss Jazairy is a prominent Algerian diplomat known at the national and international level, with a long experience also in the management of the non-governmental sector.
